Hello, my name is Lucy, and I am the founder of Attuned Occupational Therapy. As a late diagnosed ADHDer, my own neurodivergent journey has given me valuable insights into understanding myself, and it inspired me to create Attuned OT. My goal is to support neurodivergent individuals and their families in feeling seen, heard, and truly understood.
I studied my Bachelor of Occupational Therapy at Deakin University in Geelong, graduating in 2016. With almost 10 years of experience in the disability and community sector, I have had the privilege of working with individuals of all ages, offering support, advocacy, and guidance. I have spent my career working within and navigating the NDIS. I have worked for majority of my career with neurodivergent children and adolescents and their families. In recent years, I have expanded my work to include supporting neurodivergent adults.
I relocated to South Australia with my partner Leon from Canberra to move closer to my family in the Northern Territory. Since then, we have settled in our own home and expanded our home to our goofy golden retriever Lenny. In recent years, I have spent my time clinically leading a national paediatric team and supporting the growth of the Adelaide team, with a passion and focus on delivering neurodiversity affirming services.
My work centres around helping clients and families navigate their journeys from a neurodiversity-affirming perspective, advocating for their overall well-being, and supporting their full participation in daily life. I am particularly passionate about advocating for accommodations that facilitate success in meaningful activities for the client and their family, as well as within educational, employment and social community settings.
I believe that building strong, authentic connections and fostering positive therapeutic relationships are key to effective collaboration. Empowering clients to led our time together, share in their interests and passions to build our relationship. By working closely with individuamailto:lucy@attunedot.com.auls and their support networks, I strive to help them achieve meaningful goals and a more fulfilling life.
I am passionate about supporting my clients and their families holistically. I believe that it is crucial to support the system around the client and make this a focus in my support. Underpinning my work is Dr Ross Greene's ‘Kids Do Well If They Can’ approach by recognising that children's challenges arise from unmet needs, barriers or skills they are yet to develop, rather than intentional behaviour. By working collaboratively to understand and support their unique strengths and needs, I strive to help create an environment where they can thrive.
I look forward to connecting with you 😊
